
So you’ve been canoeing on the flat water and you have mastered your 2 star skills, it’s time to take your canoeing on to moving water. With an expert coach along side, you can begin your journey, learning and applying new skills. Here we will look at key concepts, core to all white water paddling, giving you the best foundation to build from. Taking your open canoe onto moving water opens up a whole wealth of river trips that you are able to undertake both in the UK and abroad. This course will focus on giving you the knowledge and skills to take your canoe onto river up to grade 2+ in safety. The course should cover a Safe introduction to the white water environment, Introduce models for reading and understand white water hydrology Identifying & understanding hazards, Building on individual skills and experiences to learn key white water skills including: Breaking In/Out, Ferry Gliding, Dynamic Balance and Posture, keeping Safe.

We use a variety of water venues around the UK picked for their suitability for this type of course. Directions to the venue will be emailed with your confirmation of booking.
FOOD AND DRINK
For full day courses please bring your own packed lunch and a hot drink. Not all our venues have facilities on site.
WHO RUNS THE COURSE?
All instructors are suitably qualified and experienced coaches and guides who run our courses and trips. In addition all staff has relevant first aid qualifications and we may also have trainee instructors working on our courses with us to gain valuable experience.

TRANSPORT
You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the venue. We may be able to assist in organising shared lifts please let us know in your booking if you are willing to offer a lift or would like one.
COST & SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT
All costs are detailed and generally all equipment will be provided however if you need to hire equipment from us the hire fees are shown separately. Please see the kit list of equipment you may need to bring for your course.
TIMINGS
Times shown are the planned start and finish times. Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time. You should be finished and ready to leave at the finish times shown but please remember that many things beyond our control can alter these.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
