DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed for those who have never sat in a kayak of any kind and want to experience sea kayaking around the magnificent coastline of North Wales, Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. We particularly welcome paddlers from overseas and enjoy showing them what North Wales can offer.
A ratio of one instructor to only 5 students allows our experienced instructors to lead and guide you from your first tentative strokes until you feel at home on the sea, as befitting a salty sea dog.
For this course, our emphasis is on introducing a basic grasp of kayak handling skills in North Wales coastal waters. Other features include Sea rescue, rough water paddling, tides, surf, planning a coastal journey, an introduction to navigation, weather forecasting and sea safety. Also, if weather and sea conditions permit, some coastal touring or an overnight expedition around the coastline of North Wales.
ITINERARY:
Day 1
Basic kayak handling, introducing basic strokes, tidal work, rough water and sea rescue.
Day 2
Planning a coastal journey, introducing navigation, weather forecasting and a review of basic strokes.
NOTES:
This course has to be flexible. If the weather or conditions on the sea are bad we will maximise the relevant training wherever possible.
